Workshop Week in Aachen

Welcome to Aachen! Our TRR404 Active-3D's young scientists met at RWTH Aachen University on 2-3 March 2026 for their first workshop. We started with a brunch in the SuperC building of the university. Given the long distances between Aachen, Dresden, Bochum, and Halle/Saale, the students enjoyed the relaxed atmosphere and chatted about their projects.
Trainer Dr. Emma Geoffray spent the first afternoon with the group and taught them all about how to structure their PhD in the training "Plan and Follow Through". In the evening we met in the beautiful and bustling city center of Aachen for dinner.
Day 2 was opened by Regina Dittmann who is the speaker of the Integrated Research Training Group that unites all PhDstudents and Postdocs of the TRR404. In an intense Interproject Workshop members of various subprojects exchanged research perspectives and explored collaborative opportunities within the TRR404.
Many students used the opportunity to participate in the second workshop of the week on “2D Materials for Future Electronics”, organized by AMO GmbH and the Aachen Graphene & 2D Materials Center.
The PhDs and Postdocs really enjoyed having the opportunity to network and exchange recent research results. We are looking forward to meeting again soon.
