Research Inspiration Grant: Sofía Cruces at Duke University, USA

Sofía Cruces, a PhD candidate at RWTH Aachen University, spent three weeks at Duke University in Durham, North Carolina.
An excellent research environment with several interesting research groups, as well as the prestigious Device Research Conference (DRC) hosted at Duke University, motivated me to undertake this research stay. As a visiting PhD candidate, I was able to participate in weekly group meetings led by Prof. Tania Roy and Prof. Aaron Franklin, attend the DRC conference, and even win the Best Poster Award.
This short-term research stay made me realize how important a strong research network is and how valuable feedback from others can be. I also learned how helpful it is to remain interdisciplinary, as different research backgrounds provide unique insights.
I will miss the summer lunches and iced coffees at Duke with fellow PhD students. I look forward to seeing them and other researchers from Duke at future conferences and events.
